So, since getting that projector I’m averaging viewing about 2 new movies a day. The great thing about the DVD revolution and how cheap it is to buy a movie shortly after it’s released, (as opposed to VHS when it came out which was like $99 a tape) is that public libraries […]

Gallery Post 002

My last posting of a painting was kind of strange since within a week or two I had someone take a picture of me that look eerily like my painting.  Look below and you’ll see what I mean.
Cinematography as an interpretive art as opposed to a creative art is one of the reasons I’m drawn […]

PS-3 Blu-ray IS all that.

March 28th, 2008 · No Comments

Okay, I have a confession. I actually returned that 1080P projector and got my old 1280×720 back. For one, it’s a larger image, Secondly, it’s a lot cheaper. Like a 3rd of the cost. So I decided to spring for a PS3 so I could see what blu-ray looks like on […]

HD & UHD

March 26th, 2008 · No Comments

I returned that Optoma HD65 in favor of a HD80. The difference is 1280×720p vs 1920×1080p.  I’m frustrated however because now, although the image is sharper.  It’s significantly smaller.  To get the same size image I have to set the projector back even further which is difficult where I am using it.
Of course, I’m not […]

The Big Screen

March 25th, 2008 · No Comments

The director of Drawing With Chalk, Todd Giglio has a screening room in his home.  An HD projector and a large 90″ screen to project 1080p HD-DVD orBlue ray onto.  It’s really sharp and provides a cinematic experience that is, I think, better than theaters.  Mostly because half the time in the theater you’re watching […]

Zeiss lenses returned

March 21st, 2008 · No Comments

The PS Tecnik lenses I just recieved are awful.  The lens barrel is so stiff that you can’t possibly pull focus without shaking the camera.  I’ve returned them and I’m giving up on owning cine lenses.  There’s just no affordable and reliable option.  It’s best to rent them anyway.   I’m planning on buying the 10 […]

Drawing With Chalk 002

March 19th, 2008 · No Comments

I actually have a day off so I’m going to relax and paint, watch some films and when the lenses arrive, test them out.  I’ve been feeling great about the footage for Drawing With Chalk. I noticed that I’ve been rating the HVX200 at 320 with the adaptor and I’ve ended up raising shots […]

Almost done with the second leg of DWC. Got one more month and we’ll be wrapped. I finally got fed up enough with the limitations and frustrations of working with still photo lenses that i went ahead and ordered the PS Technic Zeiss 35 digital geared lenses. I put […]

What’s For Dinner Post 004

March 14th, 2008 · No Comments

That’s a wrap! We finished up WFD and I’m happy to say it was a success. We managed to get all of our coverage and still have time to shape performances and get options for the cutting room. The biggest challenge I had on this film was in determining how […]

What’s for Dinner Post 003

March 7th, 2008 · No Comments

So I had my second rehearsal today for What’s for Dinner. It was in the second location and I met the other actress. We worked out the blocking and camera placement and broke it all down. I’m confident that the shoot will be really smooth. Now that I’ve seen everything play […]
